Seafood and Oyster Sales

Along with Christchurch’s restoration efforts; Christchurch has branded its own salty sweet Rappahannock oyster the “Seahorse Oyster”. Christchurch is a licensed shellfish shipper by the Department of Health Shellfish Sanitation Department and involves students in many parts of the aquaculture business.  Baby oysters are grown to adult size on the farm and sold at market value. Students learn the important ecological and economic role the oyster plays in the Chesapeake Bay region.
